Having a proven ability to meet the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence, supports the individual‘s right to make choices, being aware of how individual identity and self-esteem are linked with spiritual and emotional well-being. Using initiative to develop practical solutions to issues with an active and dynamic approach, sorting things out efficiently and unsupervised. Duties :
• Responsible for primary care , medication management
• Provide behavioural / emotional support and supervision for service users with dementia and Alzheimer’s
• Fluid intake , output levels , bowel management , incontinence
• Help service users with personal hygiene , dressing , grooming and feeding
• Cook a balanced diet that meets the nutritional needs
• Clean and infection control within service users environment
• Lift and transfer service users
• Check safety, availability and suitability of the equipment in use to be fit for purpose
• Update records in an accurate, factual and ethical manner, keep it secure and confidential
• Help with appointments and outings
• Ensure safety and well-being of people who use services
• Involve service users in discussions about their care and encourage to increase independence
• Assist with activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations Key skills and competences
• Experience of various medical conditions, including Parkinson’s, dementia, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancer
• Experience of working in residential, nursing and care homes
• Experience of personal care, companionship and home help
• A good knowledge of Health and Social Care services
