Throughout my career, I have cared for people of all ages with a wide range of health needs, from supporting people to maintain their independence and quality of life, through to complex care, palliative and end-of-life care. I believe passionately that care should be centred around the individual, their choices and their independence. My role is not simply to do things for you. Wherever possible, I will work alongside you, encouraging and supporting you to remain involved in your own care, make your own choices and continue doing the things that are important to you. I want my clients to feel supported, respected, listened to and in control of their own lives. My nursing experience During my career, I have developed a broad range of clinical knowledge and experience, including: Medical and surgical nursing across all age groups Palliative and end-of-life care Four years working as a senior nurse within a hospice inpatient unit Dermatology specialist nursing Complex wound care and skin care Skin cancer care and surveillance Pressure area and pressure ulcer prevention and care Children's school nursing, including safeguarding, immunisations and supporting children with complex needs Clinical leadership within a mass COVID-19 vaccination centre Clinical assessment and triage through my experience working with the ambulance service Multi-disciplinary working and coordinating care between different health and social care professionals I am qualified as a Community First Responder and maintain advanced first aid and CPR competencies. Choosing care at home After many years working within traditional nursing roles, I made the decision to focus my experience on something I feel incredibly passionate about — making a genuine difference to people in their own homes. I have since worked as a private carer and support worker, supporting people of different ages with a wide range of health conditions, disabilities, challenges and complex care needs. Being cared for in your own home can make an enormous difference. Familiar surroundings, routines, family, pets and the things that matter to you can all help you maintain your sense of identity and independence. My approach is therefore person-centred, enabling and compassionate. I take the time to understand what matters to you and how you want your care to be delivered. Care and support As a carer, I can provide practical and emotional support with: Personal care Supporting independence with everyday activities Shopping and household tasks Companionship Support attending appointments Nutrition and hydration Encouraging confidence and maintaining routines Supporting family members and carers Care for individuals living with complex health needs Care and support: £25 per hour Registered Nurse care As a Registered Nurse, I can provide clinical nursing care and professional support within your own home. This can include: Palliative and end-of-life care Personal care Skin assessment and skin care Complex wound care Pressure area prevention and care Nutrition and specialist feeding support Stoma care Catheter care Mouth care Clinical assessment and monitoring Care delivered in accordance with an individual's care plan, Advance Care Plan or ReSPECT plan Liaising with GPs, district nurses, community services and other healthcare professionals Helping families navigate what can sometimes be a complex health and social care system Supporting and advising family members changing health needs Registered Nurse clinical care: from £30 per hour I can also provide part-time live-in clinical care, charged on a 24-hour basis. My promise to you I understand that inviting someone into your home to provide care is a very personal decision. I want my clients and their families to feel confident that they are in safe, capable and compassionate hands. I am reliable, honest, trustworthy, respectful and professional, but I also believe that good care should include warmth, humour and a cheerful face. Most importantly, I will always try to see the person before the illness or diagnosis. Whether you need a little additional support to remain independent at home, ongoing companionship, practical care, or experienced nursing support for more complex needs, my aim is to help you live as independently as possible, in the place you call home, while maintaining your dignity, choices and quality of life. I work weekdays and weekends and will always try to be as flexible as possible around the needs of my clients and their families. A little about me Outside of nursing and caring, I am a mum to two grown-up daughters and share my home with one much-loved dog and a cat. I enjoy walking, gardening and being outdoors, as well as reading, exercise, learning new things and going to the theatre. I look forward to getting to know you and, most importantly, making a difference.
