I am a friendly, mature, positive, and hardworking individual who always strives to achieve the highest standard possible in any given task. I possess excellent communication skills and have the ability and experience to relate to a wide range of people. I can work under pressure, and I have the experience to remain good-humoured and calm. At the end of 2016, I made the decision to move away from managing and recruiting carers and returned to practical care. I have worked as a live-in carer since then.
I have some experience working with people with disabilities, but primarily I have worked in elderly care and all that can come with it. I have experience in all aspects of personal care, including continence care, suprapubic and indwelling catheters. I am experienced in the use of a variety of equipment that aids in making life easier for both the client and the carer. It has been my experience that a live-in carer brings so much more than just meeting someone's physical needs. Listening, supporting, and encouraging them, where possible, to maintain their independence is also important. Asking a client what they want to eat, wear, or do is vital; often, carers make these decisions. I believe that with the right carer, a person can thrive.
In the summer months, I enjoy travelling in my camper van. So far, I have only been to Scotland. I do some photography and enjoy listening to audiobooks, particularly true crime or biographies. If the weather keeps me indoors, I up-cycle furniture for family and friends.
