I find it extremely fulfilling and rewarding to help those in my care lead independent, comfortable, and meaningful lives and to support them in coping with difficult situations. Over the years, I have gained experience working with adults, children, and young people with autism and other disabilities, ranging from mild to severe challenging behaviours. I have worked extensively in various psychiatric wards and rehabilitation units in Central and North West London, as a personal assistant to a couple in Woking, Surrey, and with young adults with learning disabilities in NHS units. Additionally, I worked at The Haven—a respite unit for disabled children and young people—and on an outreach basis with some of the children from the unit, as well as others. Furthermore, I strive to be a good role model, leading by example and conducting myself respectfully while being supportive and helpful to my colleagues. I maintain professionalism and transparency at all times, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality, honesty, and integrity, and I encourage others to do the same. I am flexible and always make an effort to meet the needs of the service. I understand the importance of anti-oppressive practice, a non-judgmental attitude, and anti-discriminatory practice when dealing with those in my care and their families, and I am always sensitive to their needs. I am a mature, caring, patient, and confident person of pleasant character, capable of working and interacting well with most people. I am a dedicated hard worker who pays attention to detail, can perform well under pressure, and works effectively without supervision, using my own initiative. I can assist in challenging situations and have received the relevant training over the years. I have the potential to do more to help vulnerable individuals and improve the quality of their lives. I am a versatile worker who eagerly welcomes opportunities to enhance my skills. I am also highly computer literate, which is an asset in report writing and other recording processes.
