I spent 14 years working in a residential home with people with learning disabilities, assisting them with their day-to-day activities and ensuring that they achieve their goals and develop their independent skills. I also administer medication, provide personal care, cook, go shopping, and ensure that their environment is clean. Since 2017, I have been working in the community, supporting different individuals in their homes with varying needs. I assist with medication, personal care, changing catheters, hoisting, preparing meals, shopping, and occasionally cleaning. I also support a tetraplegic lady on a one-to-one basis, where I hoist her from bed to a wheelchair and feed her. I love my job and consider myself a very hardworking, polite, trustworthy individual and a good listener. I ensure that I report all incidents to the appropriate personnel while maintaining confidentiality. My duties also include getting to know clients personally and providing them with emotional support and companionship, which contributes positively to their wellbeing.

    Bertha has worked with our family for nearly two years to support our 21 year old daughter who has complex special needs and behavioral issues. Bertha has a lovely warm and friendly nature, and she stays calm in challenging times. Our daughter has epilepsy and Bertha managed seizures with confidence. Bertha supported care duties, day trips, home chores and interacted well with all other family members. Bertha is trustworthy and reliable and is a pleasure to work with.

    Bertha accompanied my father to my wedding and looked after him during the trip. She was absolutely amazing and he not only had a good time but more importantly was well cared for. I would 100% use her services again. A very kind and gracious lady who made my family feel at ease straight away.

    I chose Bertha to look after my mum because when she came for the initial visit, amongst other things, she appeared warm and caring. She called our mum “Mum”, which made us feel that she instantly felt part of the family and would treat our mum as hers. She took very good care of my mum whilst we travelled for my dad's burial in Nigeria, and we stayed in touch over the phone. Mum still asks about her. I would highly recommend Bertha x
