I believe good care is about much more than meeting someone’s basic needs; it is about getting to know each person, understanding what matters to them, and finding ways to make their day brighter. I always go the extra mile to make sure my clients are safe, comfortable and well cared for. I am also a problem-solver and will always look for a positive solution when something becomes difficult. For example, if a client loves flowers and gardening but is unable to go outside on a beautiful day, I would bring a little bit of the garden to them. I could pick some of their favourite flowers, arrange them in a vase and place them somewhere they can see and enjoy them. It is a small gesture, but it could bring them happiness and help them feel connected to something they love. A day with me as a Care Professional would be centred around the individual. I would make sure their care needs are met while also encouraging their independence, listening to them, spending meaningful time with them and supporting them to enjoy the things that are important to them. I believe every person deserves to feel respected, valued, safe and cared for, and that is the kind of care I strive to provide.
