I achieved an NVQ 3 in health and social care. I have worked in a variety of establishments covering different ranges of care. I started my career as a qualified nursery nurse leading on to being a childminder and a foster carer. I enjoyed supporting adults who lived in a secure unit who lived with autism. I have worked in nursing homes and residential homes and a unit predominantly caring for people living with multiple sclerosis. I have worked a number years as a domicillary care worker and more recently been supporting two ladies who live with dementia. I have several hobbies the main one being card making , I enjoy making cards for friends and family and have taught people I have cared for to learn the techniques I use. I enjoy watching darts and snooker on the television and personally enjoy swimming and used to accompany a blind lady into the pool to enable her to benefit from the water in various ways. I have several pets including lizards and have had to learn to care for them and all their different habits and preferences. I care for my Mum who is 84 years old enabling her to remain as independent as possible in her own home. I also enjoy doing distance learning courses and have achieved certificates in palliative care, dementia awareness, nutrition and health and mental health awareness.
