I am also an adaptable, and responsible mature lady with substantial experience of working with health and social care industry. I am also educated, qualified and also have experience in business admin/management field. I have a 1st degree in BA (HONS) Business Studies and an Master Level degree in Business Management. My experience in care goes back to 2002 when I came to this country where I have worked in care, as a health care assistant. My first job was with GHC, during those days, I attended a course where I obtained a diploma in health care and disability management. I realised that I was drawn more into care that the other professional. So, I decided to keep the 2 jobs, Care job was mainly from 6pm- 10pm, where I did domiciliary care, supporting vulnerable adults and children. Weekends I would work from morning to night. Some of the roles i have covered in care are Senior Carer evenings only, On call Manager, Health Care Assistant, Senior Support worker evenings only, and presently I work as Renal Technician which is a domiciliary care job, where I deliver high quality assisted automated PD(AaPD) and Continuous Ambulatory PD(CAPD) . In this process I work in the community , setting up stripping off the dialysis bags for home based service users. I also programme the machine to be inline with the prescription from Renal Ward/ from PD Nurses or Doctors. I also conduct patients observations after dialysis, taking their BP, Weight and exit site care. During this process I monitor and report any concerns to the PD Ward . I always combine my studies with my 2jobs showing myself to be self-motivated, organised and capable of working under pressure. I have a clear, logical mind and a practical approach to problem solving, and a drive to see things through to completion. I am a people’s person, enjoy working with people, and a natural ability to motivate those I come in contact with. The services users I work with, can attest to that. Through my careers my roles have always required me to observe my practice in accordance with the ethical and legal framework which ensure that I advocate client’s interests for e.g. When I worked I homeless department as a senior adviser Scheme Manager. I established and maintained effective working relationship with vulnerable individuals, families, and client groups which at many times was very difficult, stressful as their issues were complex and very sensitive. For e.g., at times, I had approved a very difficult decision not to provided alternative accommodation to someone who might be faced with homeless. At the same time promoting equality and diversity and respect for people’s human rights. I did this by: - Treating all staff and service users fairly - Creating an inclusive culture for staff and clients - Equal opportunities and access for all in order to develop their full potential - Equipping staff users with skills to challenge equality( ensure the department website was update on FOI, our policies and procedures being displayed for clients to have access, and if there not happy with services provided or they have a complaint about my staff members, - they had a write to complain and this will be investigated thorough; These groups of clients where from different backgrounds, sex, gender, races, colour, and I have to treat them with respect, equally, fairly, and creating an inclusive culture for all staff and the clients. I realised I had a passion for care, and this was due to the feedback I was getting from service users I was working for, their families and even family encouraged me to pursue my passion. Working as a carer ( 2nd job) is fulfilling especially when I put a smile on a service users face, when I get praises from nurses i have never met( after the families sing praises about my services) gives me more reason to pursue care industry
