I am a compassionate person. And also a patient, trustworthy and attentive carer. I respond to situations very timely. Also, I am empathetic in nature. I try to put my self in the shoes of the people I am caring for. An experience I had few weeks ago, I was asked to give this resident his breakfast. I got into his room, and said “Kev this is your breakfast” he nodded , said thank you and I left. Few hours later I went back to his room and noticed he hadn’t even touched his breakfast. I asked what was wrong but he didn’t say anything. It was lunch time already, I asked if he wanted me to spoon feed him, he nodded in affirmation. So I fed him. I also had another experience where I had closed for the day. And was on my way to pick up my bag and go home. A resident saw me and called for help, that she had soiled herself. I had just twenty minutes to get to my bus stop because my bus to hull was leaving in 22minutes. I thought of calling the night staff that had just resumed, but I didn’t. I decided to clean her up. I changed her pad, wore new one and clean clothes for her. And she said “Evelyn thank you “ I was very happy I’d helped her at that moment cos I thought of either of my parents in such a situation. I wouldn’t want someone to abandon them when they needed help.
