I gave up my high flying career in sciences to return home to care for my father who has since then passed away. Then helped Mum with her slow recovery from serious spinal injury. Collectively over 6 years unpaid care experience. I then had a multi-award winning food business which due to the pandemic forced me to close. I decided to change paths to work in Care. Currently I have accumulated 4 years experience as a professional employed carer. I’m a good listener, enjoy learning of others life experiences and history. I enjoy cooking most days, and feeding and trying out new healthy hearty meals which may be vegan, seafood, meat, British, Chinese, Indian, gluten-free, etc. I myself am a pescatarian (vegetarian who eats seafood and fish). I can definitely do a good roast. When my clients eat well, heartily, I know they are happy and doing well. I have worked as a Live In Carer with people (male, female, couples) with intermediate to advance dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, with catheter, the elderly with limited mobility due to severe arthritis, spinal and brain injury, as well as difficulty with communication, visually and hearing impaired, accident rehabilitation, post-operative recovery, allergies. I can assist with hygiene, toileting, eating, cleaning, medication administration and any administrative tasks which need support. I have a full driving license for business use, take clients for medical appointments, and enjoy taking clients out to meet friends or a meal. I enjoy watching TV, binge watch series (especially oriental dramas), going to theatre, walks, reading novels, play board games. My home language is English. In addition am fluent speaker in Urdu / Hindi, some Punjabi. I wish I had continued with French in school. If you have any questions or think I could help you then please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you. Questions are welcome. Depending on distance can arrange in person meeting after an initial Curam Meet video call.

Afia was very friendly and professional. She left detailed care notes for me on the app. She took my parents out to get shopping and to appointments and helped them at home with a variety of care tasks and around the house. Highly recommend.

Afia has been a conscientious and a determined advocate for her Clients. She cares a great deal and is always looking to improve the welfare and wellness of those she looks after. She has accepted additional responsibilties and is an effective communicator.

Afia is a bubbly, talkative person who looked after my dad well. Everything was done by the book. He ate well and enjoyed the food cooked for him. His house was well looked after too. My dad is a very quiet man and I think at times he felt overwhelmed by her personality but equally this would suit someone who likes to chat and enjoys the company of a carer more.

We can’t express enough gratitude for the care and support Afia has provided for our Mother. From the beginning, she showed professionalism, genuine kindness, patience, and compassion. Afia treated Mum with the utmost dignity and respect, always making her feel comfortable, valued, and heard. Whether it’s helping with daily tasks, keeping her company, or simply sharing a laugh. Would highly recommend

Afia stood in again at short notice for a week whilst Mum's usual carer was on holiday. This put Mum's mind at rest as she gets anxious about new people and was pleased Afia could step in. One again Afia provided very good care, especially around personal care. She also let me know of her concerns regarding my dad as he had reported feeling unwell to her which I was very grateful.

We found Afia , professional and polite and very willing to cope with my ageing mothers specific needs. Would recommend her to anyone.

Afia was looking after my mother who has mid to late stage Alzheimer's. Her patience and diligence was tangible. Always cheerful and gentle, I have no hesitation in recommending Afia for caring for dementia patients. Ashley. 12th Jan 2025

Afia stood in for Mum's usual carer when she was on holiday. Mum was quite anxious about having someone new but Afia soon put her at ease. Mum found her very friendly and professional and was very pleased with the high level of care she provided. Afia was very gentle and thorough and we would not hesitate in having Afia again.

Afia communicated well with us a home care company, and provided great care to our client for a few weeks. Would recommend her again for other packages.

We are extremely pleased with the way Afia cares for my mother who has dementia and some mobility issues. She goes above and beyond what is expected. She interacts with mom, always talking to her, taking our out, making sure she is safe inside and outside of the house. She is also skilled in nutrition and physio making sure she is well fed and kept active. Afia has a very happy and naturally caring disposition and enjoys her job. I would not hesitate in recommending her highly as a carer.
