I moved into specialist dementia care in 2014 working for a charity as a support worker; supporting service users to engage with others and facilitating therapeutic activities. In 2019 I moved into management and ran one dementia day service before taking on a second site in 2021. Working with health professionals, mental health services, other dementia teams, GP'S and social workers I assisted the organisation to develop and implement support plans and dementia scoring systems to monitor cognitive function. I have a deep understanding of dementia of all forms as well as supporting individuals with acquired brain injury. I am both a personal assistant and carer to provide daily living support such and personal care, as well as providing therapeutic activities to stimulate the mind. I can provide respite relief for carers to enjoy a much needed break, am able to do housework tasks, meal preparatin cooking balanced and nutritious meals, and support individuals to go out to hobbies and activities. Between 2022 and 2024 i worked in a primary school as a general teaching assistant, as well as being a 1-1 for children with autism and SEN who required additional support. I am also a mother to 2 girls, aged 10 and 14, my 14 year old daughter has mobility difficulties and other additional needs. I try to fit in as many clients as possible for regular visits, but do also have to balance around my children. Please dont hesitate to enquire about dates and times. I predominantly work between the hours of 9am and 3/4pm childcare and school term dependant. I am unable to commit to overnights and short notice care due to childcare. I try to respond as soon as possible to client messages, normally within the same day, i may not see them immediately if i am working or with my children. I am on annual leave between 22nd July and 28th July and so will not have access to my diary or calendar to respond during these dates

Excellent

Sophie is brilliant with my daughter who is non verbal and her team. My daughter is extremely complex and there is a lot to learn and take in, yet in the first 2 shifts Sophie has already picked up a lot and been of a huge help to my main carer and my daughter really likes her, especially how she speaks to her. Sophie is kind, caring, very helpful and punctual. We are very grateful for her help.

Excellent

I cannot praise Soph enough for the care she gives to my mother, who has Dementia and the support to my father. It has given me huge piece of mind to know she is popping in twice a week and my father, who was originally very reluctant to have a Carer come to the house, says she is a ‘breath of fresh air’ and really appreciates the help.
