About me

Caring has always played a major part in my life, it has been second nature. Being sensitive, naturally loving and attuned to my own family’s needs and concerns from an early age has over the years carved a dedicated path in helping others further afield. I consider myself to be a confident and competent individual giving reassurance and constructive advice when needed, whilst promoting and maintaining my clients Independence and decision making at all times. My other strengths being empathy, compassion, intuition, optimism, and good communication
I have been a live in care for several years, and have had a varied clientele with specific needs both physical and mental. These include parkinsons, cancer, addiction, spinal injury ( catheter care experience), stroke, and dementia. These experiences have given me tremendous insight and knowledge of care, broadening my awareness and understanding of people and the job in hand.
Caring can be very challenging but is a vocation with many rewards. Achieving results, no matter the situation, brings job satisfaction, relevancy and above all huge smiles to client and carer. Maintaining dignity at all times plays an ongoing role in my caring position, ensuring self respect and pride is crucial in aspects of their life. I always like to think how I would like a member of my own family to feel and be treated.
I would like to briefly mention my most memorable care role I undertook in 2007. I nursed and cared for my mother in the last few weeks of her life. This was the most painful, loving, challenging, and yet rewarding role I've undertaken in my caring years. To give someone who was so very precious, your world, every once of your worth, strength, bravery, and professionalism as a carer, is what molds and shapes you as a wiser, more humble human being.
As a carer I aim to focus on the whole person ‘holistically’ and am a firm believer in ‘Food is they Medicine'. I like to prepare fresh wholesome food which promotes ‘healing and wellbeing’ both physically and mentally. Food is the spice of life, particularly for those who have a debilitating or restrictive condition.
Interests and hobbies are: dogs and animals, outdoor living and space maintaining a happy, healthy lifestyle. Yoga and meditation to relax and recharge the batteries. Cooking and travel is a main focal point, allowing me to explore different cultures and ethnic cuisine. I enjoy art, classical music and opera.

Additional information: Travel costs and waking nights to be discussed and negotiated accordingly.

Client Recommendations

Sarah was the first carer I have had for my mother . Sarah coped very well with my mothers reluctance to the situation and won her round with her lovely home cooked meals and cheerful nature. She enabled me to take a break from caring for my mum on a daily basis and we all hope she will be able to come back again in the near future
