I am friendly and have excellent communication skills, passionate about caring for others, a down to earth individual and very attentive to details. My experience caring for people started in 2001 whilst working on a Neuro Rehabilitation Unit as a Healthcare Assistant and in 2006, as a registered adult nurse after qualifying at Kingston University. I have worked in various nursing environment including in the community settings where I looked after many clients in their own environment. In 2013 I gave up my nursing career to look after my terminally-ill mother-in-law for nearly 5 years. Safeguarding my clients is my top priority where protection of physical and mental well being must be continually kept regardless of their condition and background. I fully understand the importance of keeping clients’ privacy and dignity as well as the need to share information with family members and the multidisciplinary team in case an alarming issue arise in order to keep clients safety. Whilst working closely to Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists Teams I gained a vast experience and awareness on how to promote and support individuals to become safely independent. I can safely perform moving and handling techniques, such as use the of mechanical and electric hoists, Zimmer frames and the use of other mobility accessories. I am aware of the importance of a continuous risk assessment on every visit as client’s daily needs and functional status might change at any time. I have the skills to work for clients with stoma's and PEG feeding based on a prescribed treatment by following protocols and guidelines. I can measure blood pressure and blood glucose and can prompt clients to take their medication as well as monitor their food and fluid intake whilst been aware of their condition i.e feeding orally a post stroke client. I can help with oral care, washing and dressing. Adding to my working experience as a carer, I worked as a nanny and housekeeper for a high profile family for over 13 years. A role in which I had to be discreet and well organised. I am fluently in both English and Portuguese. Although I do drive I do not have my own car that can be used for work but I have a clean full UK driving license and I feel very comfortable driving around London. My main way of transport is by foot or bicycle. In my spare time I like to read about health, sports and nutrition related articles. It is vital for me to follow a healthy life style based on good nutrition and daily physical activities. I feel comfortable around most pets and I am very happy to care for them as well. I am looking for a flexible work pattern. Days and time can be discussed in order to best suit client. If you need any further information please do not hesitate in contacting me.
