What makes a good career is good communication skills, the fact that careers meet individuals from different backgrounds with diverse health issues which could impair their ability to be able to communicate, interacting clearly with clients who could have individual needs. This will contribute effectively on working practices. I will always involve the clients family and close friends regarding any important information they need to know about the client. For example feed back from the doctors or other concerns. Good communication with colleagues could also contribute positively in ensuring that clients receive good standards of care. Passion,!this is the most important quality of a care worker, skills and training are paramount to maintain the high working standards. Although the passion and helping those who are in need makes the real difference. I have worked with individuals with learning difficulties, Autistic, Challenging behaviour, Dementia, Epileptic and other health issues. I have good communication skills which has helped me to communicate effectively with clients. I'm very caring and show empathy towards clients I have always taking care of, I like cooking to make sure that my clients eat healthy and maintaining a balanced diet., assisting them with personal care in order to maintain good personal hygiene, I also like doing other chores which include cleaning, laundry and also assisting clients with different activities going to day centres and college or personal shopping. Am very out going and am always there when my clients need company. Am pursuing my degree in public health and social care this will help me to contribute positively to the support and services I will be delivering to all my clients. Sense of humour, putting a smile on the client’s face can relieve a lot of tension and could be the best medicine, the fact that clients can be suffering from serious health issues which should be treated professionally but making them smile would make a difference to their physical and mental wellbeing. Empathy as a care worker it is very important to put yourself in the client’s shoes, what you would feel if you were in their situation? How you exactly react? Trying to imagine yourself in such situations allows you to have a better understanding of the clients mindset and their behaviours and this would help you to be able to provide the support that the clients need. Positivity, as a career I will be at the clients front line, and I will be facing the clients health challenges with them, and I could also build a close relationships with them which might be difficult at times to see them suffer or in pain. It is my duty as a carer to stay strong and positive during the difficult times, It can be contagious to support the clients in facing such hardships more effectively.
