I helped care for my late mother for 12 years, who suffered from vascular dementia, was doubly incontinent, and also peg fed. A year or so after my mum passed away, I went on to help care for my dad, who is severely disabled with multiple other health conditions, including arthristis, type 1 diabetes and heart problems, my dad has very poor mobility. Throughout my working life, I have always worked in a health care setting. I am a qualified dental nurse and have worked in this field for 20 years. Most recently, I worked with NHS as a call handler for 5 years, where I have gained a wealth of knowledge of many health conditions, etc. Why have I come to Curum? I have helped care for and personally assist a family friend with vascular dementia, who had quite a lengthy hospital stay after breaking her hip. I have helped this lady build up her confidence in getting her more confident with her mobility by using walking aids etc. I am a great believer in always treating people with dignity, respect, empathy, and honesty.
