Over the last 30+ years, I have worked in holistic therapies, where I often did work with clients who had medical conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and cancer, and with the ambulance service where I was a paramedic dealing with emergencies, end-of-life situations and where I also did a secondment working with neonatal babies. Whilst living in London I did temporary care work for an agency that provided care mainly to children with complex medical conditions and disabilities. In addition to this, I have volunteered with a local charity providing both emotional and physical/medical support to a varying age range of clients from different backgrounds and driving a minibus enabling clients to go on trips and outings. More recently I have worked with people post-trauma and facilitated group sessions whilst promoting well-being using various methods such as art and nature. This last post also meant I had to take safeguarding and moving, and handling certificates and I am fully aware of GPDR compliance. Because of my past experiences and qualifications, I am able to work with a wide variety of clients of all ages and with various needs and I enjoy working in an environment where I feel I can make a positive difference in someone's life. I always adopt a person centred approach and appreciate and understand that people are individuals with their own specific needs, personalities, and lifestyles. I have experience as a Sleep Practitioner and have worked with and supported parents and children to identify and overcome sleep issues/challenges. This involved facilitating sleep diaries to identify problems, and identifying child/family friendly solutions/goals, and regularly monitoring progress and recording outcomes. All children I have worked with had Autism and/or physical disabilities. I have a vey calm and professional manner, and can communicate effectively and confidently.
